Shark is one of the two Coral members that Canary respects and looks up to the most, since he was the first Coral she met and he and Kit tend to be the ones who are the best at taking the wheel during trauma games and the like. Despite that, she still feels like there's a lot she doesn't know about him. She didn't see as much of his heart as some other teammates did, and he doesn't really talk about his past. But what with the way his heart got borked and the way he acted in Kit's heart, she's pretty sure he has a reason for not talking more about himself. Buuut she doesn't want to pry if he doesn't want to talk about it!! (Though she may eventually, the way things are going.)
ANYWAY, regardless of all that, Canary trusts Shark a lot, wants to support him when she can, and feels safer when he's around. Going through Kit's heart with him really did a lot to make her feel that way, which is why she stuck with him through Mouse's heart too.
Shark on Canary?
no subject
Shark being a loser aside he likes Canary a lot. He's protective of her but he believes in her ability to make her own choices! And while he would absolutely take a bullet for her he'd be willing to let her step up and take her own bullets too! Basically. The girls that were on Coral before that played in games were mostly all ones that wanted/needed protecting. So Canary was the first girl on Coral who he knew would, did, and wanted to be able to carry things in games! So aside from being protective and liking her and thinking she's adorable and sweet, he also respects her a lot!
In Kit's heart when he was being really messed up she was patient and argued him into better decisions and that is another thing he really appreciates about her. She's really sweet and has a good heart and he adores her even if he doesn't know pretty much anything about her past.
What are Canary's thoughts/developments on Coral? How is the team suiting her? (How is her tendency to bully developing?)
no subject
Her bullying hasn't been developing too much lately but that's just because she hasn't had reason to shoot anyone in the face with a water gun yet, obviously.
Same for Shark, how does he feel about Coral?

Canary really was inspired by the way Rider spoke about his names and himself in the tear event. That sort of heartfelt self-reflection and desire to do something Good even when it seems like it might be impossible or difficult is something that pings her pretty strongly, and she respected him for it instantly. Talking with him about it after the event just cemented that and she thinks that the idea of bringing two people (...or people and dragons) together sounds like something she would believe in too- she's mixed up in efforts to avoid a war in her own world- and there's something about Rider that makes her believe in him because of it. RIDER YOU CAN BE STRANGELY CHARISMATIC SOMETIMES or maybe just to Canary idk. He's also close to her age and wants to do something with his life that makes a difference, which resonates with her personally.
When she saw him with his darkness!shadow, although she did come to understand that it was a part of him, she was facing a lot of her own doubts at the time too. She pretty much expressed all her feelings on fear and the like in that thread, but part of it was that it was a lot easier for her to believe in someone else than in herself, and she really did believe in Rider even if she hadn't had a chance to show it before then. In the end, succeeding against Rider's darkness!shadow did a lot to help her overcome some of her own self-doubts, if just a little.
Sssso essentially, Canary really likes and respects and believes in Rider, and he seems really kind and strong and she wants to help him stay that way. She'd like to spend more time with him too!!

Or at least, that was how it was until Jabberquest. There were about three things about Kit dying that messed Canary up: 1. It was the first time she'd seen a teammate die, 2. It was Kit who was doing the dying, who as I said before he's something of a pillar for her and she had told him earlier in the game she would support him (which she wanted to do because she felt like he always supported her), and 3. she was counting on the fact that her healing would be returned after the game, and when it wasn't, there was that awful moment of he's still alive but he's going to die now because you couldn't save him. It was pretty devastating for her, which she unfortunately reacted to by going numb and then running on autopilot for most of the night after that.
There was other stuff after that which led to her feeling even worse about herself, but as far as Kit goes, she's now a lot more hesitant to ask his help or depend on him too much. The fact that he was able to get right back up and move on, along with not being able to save him, left her struggling with feelings of weakness and the desire to be stronger so that something like this will never happen again, or at the very least, she wouldn't feel this way again. Basically, she wanted to be more like Kit in the way he can pokerface his badfeels away.
She had a talk with Lloyd in Camelot though where she talked about how she felt and he made her a little more willing to express her feelings instead of running from them, so now she can at least talk to Kit again without feeling like she's trying to hide something- and she kind of wants him to express himself more, too. But she does still feel like she should depend on him less and stay out of his way because he's clearly stronger than her and therefore worth more (which had to do with why she initially wandered off on her own at the start of Mouse's heart).

Most of Kit's general Canary feelings have stayed the same. He still respects her and her desire to help carry burdens, and he respects her ability to stand up to him and Shark about that. He respects her ability to make choices! And as much as he wants to protect her, he recognizes in her a desire to protect others herself, and he doesn't want to take that ability away from her. Pandora's game, and the Gingerbread Witch game, where he stepped aside and let her take some of the hits is pretty indicative of this. He thinks she's strong, and he admires her for it.
He does, however, think she's awfully hard on herself sometimes :( Like he doesn't know about all of her internal feelings related to his Jabberquest death obviously, but if he did he'd just be like NO CANARY NO YOU ARE STRONG I AM THE WEAK ONE WHO RUNS FROM EVERYTHING DON'T TAKE GETTING UPSET OVER SOMETHING LIKE THAT AS A SIGN OF WEAKNESS ,-, He has noticed that she seems a little more distant than she was before the game, which does make him :( but it isn't to a point where he feels like he has to ask her about it yet. He might if it does get to that point, but for now, he's doing his best to support her and be her friend like he usually does.

Do you have any dream amnesia names for Shinichi :D
no subject
Exactly how much does Kit know about Conan/Shinichi at this point?
no subject
when Shinichi remembers Ran and finds out she's in the book how will he react...
no subject
If he DOES properly remember his teenage boy feelings for her before that, then he'll be extra sadface and possibly interrogate some Personae on the chances of getting someone out of the book. (and possibly do something appropriately dramatic but unnecessary like ask to see the book personally then go 'Wait for me, Ran' or something while no one is looking. BUT DETAILS.)
I know Kit will outwardly pokerface and be a troll to him when he arrives, but how will Kit internally react to Shinichi showing up?

and in some ways they kinda get each other in that way only world-saving JRPG characters canBUT ANYWAYAlthough she questioned a lot of the things he said, she really did take a lot of what he said to heart. The idea of 'living wholeheartedly' and of that being a choice really hit home, since in her own life she 'chose' on her own to leave home even though she knew it was dangerous and her mother didn't approve, because she wanted to help people with what time she had left.
So she's going to try and do what he said, and she also can see him closer to an equal now (as opposed to someone much better than her) since she understands now that he's felt the same fears and sorrows that she has. +1 to social link rank get.

ANY TEAM HOPES FOR YOUR NEXT CHARACTER?
no subject
WELL I've been told Emerald would be a good fit for Shinichi and I do think it would be cool and I also like emerald green as a color BUT. I'd be cool with other teams too!! I don't know about specific teams, but ideally I'd like him to have a team where there's a strong enough team dynamic that he would be pushed into being more of a team player and befriending his team, but enough individualistic dynamic for him to go around doing his own thing. Also, a team that at least mostly has strong moral standards because he would nope so hard out of a team that doesn't care too much about murdering people. BUT YEAH IDK THAT IS MY DREAM but even if he ends up on a team that clashes with him, that could be interesting to play with.
How do you imagine Lloyd would react if Canary reached terminal Colette pings (a.k.a. she tells him that she has to cliff herself to save her world), and doesn't want him to tell anyone else?
no subject
Uhhh canonically he'd maybe keep shut about it for a while and then go NO YOU CAN'T more publically. In Aather he'd probably try REALLY HARD to convince her not to keep quiet about it if it bothered her but if she was adamant about it... probably the same thing would happen! SORRY CANARY. YOUR LIFE IS IMPORTANT 8( WE CAN FIND ANOTHER WAY TO SAVE YOUR WORLD
He'd tell her about Colette, too.
...what would Canary think if he told her about Colette, actually?

no subject
"I SHOWED THAT PASTEBIN TO MY CANONMATE AND SHE SCREAMED JUST AS LOUDLY?"
I can't even
no subject
ALSO I mostly just mean does she have to toss herself off a cliff to save the world too or what. WORLD-SAVING MECHANICS, WHAT ARE THEY
But I mean ASSUMING IT'S SOMETHING LIKE THAT, she would be surprised to know that there was someone like that in Lloyd's world too and probably ask stuff about her. and. if she was able to find another way to save the world and stuff. :'| and also if it had anything to do with the Darkness because she suspects that it's the Darkness that has to chased from her world. (w-which is actually pretty accurate)
ANYWAY!!!
idek what to ask. uhhh does Lloyd ever not fail at romance?
no subject
D8<
Anyway Lloyd doesn't fail at romance in like... loving you or emotionally being there for you or supporting you or trying to do nice things for you just because you're yourself! ALL OF THAT HE'S GREAT AT. It's just like. Remembering birthdays, knowing how to flirt with someone or conduct a date, basically... all of the schmoopy couple stuff. There he sucks and is honestly pretty dumb. He's a huge sap and pretty reliable though so it sort of evens out :|a
I-is Canary still crushing on him...
no subject
ANYWAY I wouldn't say she's still crushing on him exactly, though his level of importance in her life only seems to go even further up the more they interact s-sob... but she's able to translate those feelings into something non-romantic now since she knows he doesn't feel the same way, and she's also starting to remember more about Allegretto and possibly some of her feelings for him. As things are she's just happy to have Lloyd in her life.
But there's still the occasion or two where she feels sad about it. But she has too many awesome friends to stay sad about something like that X(!!
if he asked her out she'd say yesWhile we're on that subject, do you think Lloyd could ever want to be her boyfrand or can he just not see her that way/is too fail at schmoopy couple stuff?
no subject
(He has the potential to date Presea in canon and she's as young as Canary, but it's also canon that he sees this as acceptable because Presea is an exception — she's emotionally 14 in some ways but she's experienced a lot more years than that and the fact she's experientially in her thirties shows in lot of ways, too. He tells people that it's different than how it looks because of that agefuck! Which implies he would not be okay with it if it was actually how it looked.)
If she was a couple years older all bets would be off though because she's very much the kind of person who can very quickly become very emotionally important to him and whups that's Lloyd's major qualifier for being into someone. Not the only one! But a very important one. And she's definitely one of the types he finds cute on top of that. :'D C...COME BACK IN A FEW YEARS CANARY.
Tell me about Allegretto!
no subject
really though that would make her sad to hear since she still hasn't seen any real signs that she'll live past 14 in canon :')
Let's see, Allegretto... I have some issues with the way their romance (and really all of the romances in the game) was written, though it does have some pretty nice parts, like the scene I took that pastebin from. (You can watch the scene here if you want.) Most of what I take issue with is that you don't see a ton of development getting them to this point and by the end it's supposed to be ~*~true love~*~ or whatnot.
BUT as for Allegretto himself, he and his brother Beat are orphans from Ritardando (the port city that you can see from the cliff in that cutscene) who would steal bread to help the other orphans who lived in the sewers. He's headstrong, and while he tends to lean toward action rather than overthinking things (like Polka does), he's pretty good at understanding the complexities of conflict and the moral grayness between right and wrong. He also seems to already be crushing on Polka from early on, and he gets flustered and tsun whenever Viola makes fun of him for doing anything remotely romantic toward her (which she does basically every time it happens). He also knows early on that she's dying, since it's common knowledge in their world that having magic = you have a terminal disease, and while he doesn't treat her any differently for it, he worries about her a lot and wants to find some way to save her.
I suppose I could also point out that the reason I said it's supposed to be true love is because from the beginning of the game, you see her falling and talking aloud: "I must do this. And it's for the person who means the most to me. My life is nothing compared to his. Doing this is easy if it's for him." And there's a bunch of other small stuff hinting toward them being kinda fated to be together- remember that stone she quested for from Lloyd? Well, if you watch that cutscene, you'll see some of how that relates too...
WAS THAT ENOUGH. OR MAYBE TOO MUCH. IDK!!
Tell me about Colette :|a

HA HA OH BOY. So Colette is Lloyd's childhood friend! They grow up together knowing Colette is the Chosen, a figure of some importance in the Church of Martel; when she's sixteen a bunch of foretold shit will happen and then she'll begin the ~journey of world regeneration~ which, upon her completing it, will save the world! This is a big deal because the world is undergoing a ton of attacks by monsters as well as incursions by the Desians and drought, famine, etc; this is because no Chosen has succeeded in Sylvarant for a long time — conditions which also make it impossible to give the Chosen a ton of support once it's time for their journey, especially as it's traditional for the Chosen to only travel with a very small group of companions. Colette's birthday is an annual holiday as everyone celebrates her journey to save them getting a little nearer! She's basically treated as a huge symbol of hope more than as a person in a lot of ways, and she values her life accordingly — especially since by the time canon starts, she's known for a long time that when her journey ends, so will her life as "Colette." The journey of regeneration is to change her into an angel and she knows that when it's over, she won't be able to go back to her human life. It scares her a lot, but that's what you have to do to save the world and let's have fun till then :')!!!
Over the course of her journey of world regeneration she first loses her ability to eat normally, then sleep, then feel! Her eyesight and hearing get so good they're kind of painful! She loses the ability to speak after that, but throughout the journey, she keeps reiterating that she wants to save the world and wants everyone else to have fun :')!! and hides it until Lloyd basically pries it out of her and then ignores his promise at the last to tell the others what's going on. Still, they continue, because how else is the world supposed to be saved?? — and then the inevitable conclusion is that Colette has to lose her life as a human and memories and heart/soul entirely to become an angel; it's revealed once she's already an empty husk that this is done because they need her body to try to revive Martel, not to save the world. The world regeneration system is set up as a way for Mithos to breed good Chosen candidates to hopefully match his sister's mana signature and lose their souls so that hers can take their bodies, and the religious leaders and the Desians that have been putting people in concentration camps for generations are actually the same group! How nice!
...with the help of a group of renegade Cruxis members, the party (especially Lloyd) rescues Colette and eventually brings her back to herself. Which she's grateful for! But she never finished the journey of world regeneration, so Sylvarant is still suffering; it wears on her a lot as the game continues that she's a failed Chosen, someone who dared to value living over the world, who wasn't brave enough or isn't worthy of this. She hides it from the party when she gets an illness to try to keep from worrying them, and basically continually wrestles with a sense of self-worth and who she can be if she's not the Chosen who'll save the world. She hangs on to Lloyd telling her he wants her to live for herself, and she's really not over any of it by the time the game ends. In ToS2 you see her as more settled, hoping to continue serving the world in a new way and trying to help and change it into a form that won't encourage the kind of system that broke her, but her lack of self-worth in the face of the world runs very deep. It's notable that she's very much a deconstruction of the smiling martyr girl trope — the kinds of attitudes towards your own self-worth that it fosters and how damaging and isolating it can be.
this music video is a good summary of Colette as a character, for me.
Tell me some of your character pings!

I picked this memory because it doesn't give too much away about his predicament or who he really is, though it clearly shows that he is
batmana detective who pretends to be a child while working behind the scenes to bring murderers to justice. That way I can save rediscovering all the good stuff for while he's in-game. B)SO DO YOU THINK YOU'LL BRING RAN BACK SOMEDAY?
no subject
PROBABLY MOST OF ALL, I just really really wanted Toki at the time! I wanted him to gain CR with his cast before they all left (since Bonten and Ginshu had been there since the very beginning and had most of their memories by then) and I JUST REALLY WANTED TO PLAY HIM. Ran's the type that is a stable character with or without memories and she had a million memories left sooo she'd be here forever anyway with no chance of goodending ever :') IF I BRING HER BACK, IT'LL HOPEFULLY BE FOR THE LONG HAUL.
FTR Heliodor is currently pretty solid so even if I had reapped her now, I figure it would be a while BUT I WOULD LIKE FOR HER TO HAVE HER SAME TEAM 'w'
ANY OTHER FUTURE APP IDEAS? Just for the fun of it.

While I do muse a lot on plurk about character X or Y would work in Aather, right now I'm avoiding giving too much thought to apping a character down the line. Since Shinichi's going to have a registry longer than the great wall of china, the only way I'd lose him is if I drop him which I will be doing my best to avoid unless a tempdrop is necessary. And Canary's still got at least the better part of a year's worth of memories left, and my character limit is 2. So if I did app someone else, it would have to be after Canary happy ends, so I want to focus on playing her while I can.
BUT really there are so many muses I would be tempted to play. I'm always looking for excuses to bring back my old forever muses like Raziel, Jiro, and 004 (and Greed but he already got his turn!!). Some days I really wanna toss Wolfwood into Aather but I just haven't been able to fully revive his muse. Back before I decided on Canary I know I was thinking about apping Brandon Heat from Gungrave, but I'm still not sure if I could properly handle his silent protag syndrome, plus I'd have to rewatch the anime and make his registry from it and I decided it's just not worth it (I have Opinions about the anime). :'( Then there's Lyner from Ar Tonelico who I've been tempted to try out, though he would HAVE to be a knight and I still don't know that I could handle a knight. AND MAYBE MISHA TOO though I haven't decided if I could actually play her or not. AND WHO KNOWS I MIGHT PICK UP OTHER NEW MUSES OR REVIVE OTHER OLD MUSES IDK!!!
TL;DR THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS
How do you imagine Dragonfly would happy end? Would he legacy until Briar reaches his, or...?

Shiny made him feel a little bad about leaving before Ling came back, but what with Erika lessening some of his feelings (positive and negative) toward Ling, it wasn't as painful as it could have been. He was able to reason it away with the fact that Ling chose to leave and he couldn't stay and risk falling into depression again just so he could be there to greet when Ling when he came back.
SO YEAH, overall he felt pretty good about it, though Pitch made him sad too but he's going to come back for him. Plus hey, with the care package set up in Camelot he's not actually all that far away all the time.
How about Saya's feelings on leaving?

Canary doesn't feel like she knows Mouse that well, and while he's generally been nice to her she's seen him argue things with Shark and Kit in games before so she's felt like he's a bit Different than most of her teammates. But he's still Coral so she trusts him.
Though after seeing his heart, she thinks maybe he's not so different after all!! Though not all of his heart was full of flowers obviously, now that she's sure a place like that exists in his heart she wants to 'see' it in him outside of his heart, too. She wants to ask about some of the things she saw, too. TALK TO ME MOUSE, BE MY CORALFRAND.
